Nice to have you here at the site! Thanks for your question about the 12 bar blues... this is a popular topic.

The 12 bar blues is a very popular chord progression in popular music (one the most popular actually). That, of course, includes the blues. Whenever you hear the phrase "blues changes" this is the chord progression that is begin referred to.
