Improvisation always seemed like "magic" to me. Whenever I heard someone play anything but the original melody of a song, it intrigued me. I also thought it was something "beyond me." But, Dave, you opened my eyes up to the fact that I'm capable of this. I guess it's like anything else we're not familiar with. Once we make it our mission to dive in and learn, the mystery unfolds.
I don't aspire to be a professional performer. I just want to be able to sit at the piano and play, free of the need to rely on the music that's in front of me. I'm starting to do that now, which gives me the incentive to play an extra hour or more every day!
Learning is a great thing and something we should never stop doing.
